Anton Žirovnik

A memorial plaque was dedicated to the partisan and activist of the Organization of the Free Territory of Slovenia (OF) Anton Žirovnik, who was shot by the Italians on 10 September 1942 at this location during a search, while he was carrying a plate of printed material hidden in a hollow desk.

The plaque was erected on the building at the address Tržaška cesta 145 (house of the Vrtačnik family), which no longer exists today. Already in 1984, the plaque was removed from the building due to the construction of a car park and was stored by the Local Community of Stane Sever. The fate of the plaque is unknown.
