Dolnji Suhor - Grave of Rudolf Kromar - Fric

Rudi Kromar-Fric, a fighter of the Gorjanski Battalion, is buried here. He fell in the battles near Suhorje in April 1942. The grave, with a tombstone made of white stone, was arranged in 1974 at the initiative of the Gorjanski Battalion committee.

On the cemetery near St. Jacob, there is the grave of Rudolf Kromar-Fric, one of the first partisans. He fell on April 22, 1942. In 1974, the Gorjanski Battalion committee placed a tombstone on his grave.

»According to the decision of the Main Command, a special Belokranjski unit was planned. This unit was supposed to be established by the partisans of the Dolenjski unit, who had remained on the other side of the Gorjanski. These were especially the battalion commander Franc Pirkovič (Čort) and Tine Železnik (Anton Šuštaršič). The first contact with the Belokranjski partisans was attempted already on April 24. In this operation, Žan More and Dušan Pirjevec (Ahac) went, accompanied by Rudolf Kromar. They encountered a stronger Italian patrol near Mačkovce, which came from Hrast with a police dog. During this clash, Kromar killed the dog and one of the Italians. In an unequal battle, he also fell himself. More and Ahac continued to fire for some time, but had to withdraw, as help arrived for the Italians from Hrast.«
