The road leads towards the ground floor spaces of the former reception centre
concrete path named Aleja komandantov. On its right side are monuments
to all four commanders of the partisan army. Each monument consists of
two vertically placed granite slabs, which stand on a granite base on
which is a smaller circular slab with the inscription "od kdaj do kdaj je dotični bil
komandant slovenske vojske". The monument concludes with a granite slab on
which are placed the figures of the commanders. Originally, they were bronze statues
which were however taken away between 15th and 18th May 2015. Even today, vandals
continue to deface the monuments.
Franc Leskošek - Luka; partisan name Peter Strugar, Slovenian soldier and
politician, born on 9 December 1897 in Celje, died on 5 June 1983 in Ljubljana. First
commander - national hero generalpodpolkovnik Franc Leskošek – Luka, commander
of the main headquarters of the Slovenian partisan units, commanded the Slovenian
army from 22 June 1941 to 1 October 1942, when he was replaced by Ivan Maček – Matija.
Ivan Maček - Matija, Slovenian partisan, general, political commissar
pioneer and national hero, born on 12 March 1908 in Ljubljana, died on 10 July
1993 in Ljubljana.
Second commander - national hero generalmajor Ivan Maček – Matija, commander
of the main headquarters of the Slovenian partisan army, commanded the Slovenian
army from 1 October 1942 to 13 July 1943, when he was replaced by Franc Rozman – Stane. His
monument is frequently defaced. Even today, his figure is missing from the top
of the monument.
Franc Rozman – Stane, Slovenian Spanish fighter, partisan, general and national
hero, born on 27 March 1912 in Spodnje Pirniče near Ljubljana, died on 7 November
1944 in Kanižarica in Bela Krajina.

commander of the main headquarters of the Slovenian partisan army
commanded the Slovenian army from 13 July 1943 to 7 November 1944.
Franc Rozman tragically died as a result of a severe wound, which he received during
testing of new weaponry – mortars, which were sent to the partisans by British
allies. The mine exploded in the barrel and mortally wounded him. He died the same
day in the hospital OF Kanižarica near Črnomlje. A few days after his death, on 11
November, he was proclaimed a national hero of Yugoslavia. He was buried in the
Srednja Gora on the Bela Krajina side of the Kočevski Kraj.
After the war, his remains were transferred in April 1949 to Grobnica
of national heroes in Ljubljana. Commander Stane, as the partisans called him, is
considered one of the most significant figures from the period of the Liberation
Movement. A very well-known partisan song, Komandant Stane, is dedicated to him.
Dušan Kveder - Tomaž, Slovenian Spanish fighter, communist, partisan, general
political commissar, pioneer and national hero, born on 9 April 1915 in Šentjur
died on 12 March 1966 in Belgrade.

commander of the main staff of NOV and POS commanded the Slovenian army from
10 November 1944 to 1 May 1945, when the Slovenian army was dissolved by a decree
of Josip Broz – Tito.

Parkirišče pod Bazo 20 1. Iz smeri Ljubljane mimo Soteske in v vasi Podturn desno v gozd – sledi nekaj kilometrska asfaltna cesta do Baze 20. 2. Iz Novomeške smeri skozi vas Podturn, na križišču v vasi desno in na koncu vasi levo v gozd – sledi nekaj kilometrska asfaltna cesta do Baze 20. 3. Iz Belokranjske smeri po "Partizanki" skozi Podturn naravnost v križišču in na koncu vasi levo v gozd – sledi nekaj kilometrska asfaltna cesta do Baze 20. 4. Iz Kočevske smeri lahko kar skozi Kočevski rog do Baze 20 ali po cesti skozi Smuko do Dvora, nato desno do Soteske, kjer se desno odcepi partizanska magistrala do Podturna in v križišču pred Podturnom desno v gozd po asfaltirani cesti do parkirišča pod BAZO 20. Lahko pa južno čez Črnomelj, ali severno skozi Ribnico in naokoli po avtocesti do Novega mesta, nato do Dolenjskih Toplic in do Podturna na križišču v vasi desno in na koncu vasi levo v gozd – sledi nekaj kilometrska asfaltna cesta do Baze 20.
