Drago Kobal, Maribor

A black marble plaque bears an engraved and gilded inscription. On the plaque it is stated
the wrong name (Karel), since the correct one is Drago Kobal. The plaque was unveiled on 27.
April 1956 (according to another source 1952).

»The school, which today bears the name Primary School Draga Kobal, began to be built in
the year 1954.

In the school year 1959/60 the school was renamed Primary School Draga Kobal
as it is still called today. The name was given in honour of the pre-war revolutionary
participant in the Spanish Civil War and victim of World War II, Drago Kobal. In his
honour the street, where his house was once located, is also named. […]

In the school year 1961/62 the Primary School Draga Kobal was merged with
Primary School Brezje and Primary School Žitečka vas from Zgornji Duplek. The name
of all three schools was Primary School Draga Kobal, and the school's seat was at
Tolstojeva 3.«
