Dr. Ivan Korošec

On a stone, carved block stands a bronze statue. The monument was unveiled in May 2010. The statue was designed by Jakov Brdar, and prior to its unveiling, the statue inexplicably waited for many years in the premises of the primary school.

The poet and pioneer, Dr. Ivan Korošec, fell in May 1942, about 500 m from his family home on Lazah near Borovnica. At first, he was buried in his family garden, later however, he was buried in the Borovnica cemetery. He is said to have written around 50 poems, but only two have been preserved. He earned his doctorate in law.

Today, the primary school in Borovnica is named after Dr. Ivan Korošec.
