Franc Marušič, physician, social-political activist, born on May 3, 1901 in Solkan near Gorica, died on May 13, 1965 in Valdoltra Hospital.

He started studying medicine at the University of Ljubljana, continued in Prague and Gradec, where he defended his thesis in 1925.

In 1940, he was mobilized as a public health doctor in Gorizia, then remained until the end of the war (December 1944) as a public health doctor in Anhovo and Kanal. He began collaborating with NOB (National Liberation Committee) in 1942 (an illegal ambulance service in Oželjane and Šempas), and in the summer of 1944 became a health reference for the regional council OF for the middle-adriatic region, later head of the health section at the same regional council until the end of the war.
