Here, on 13th January 1945, a partisan and informant Jožef Čeh-Polde, fighter of the 1st Prekmurian partisan unit, fell in battle with Hungarian fascists. That evening, he was on his way from Lipovec to Beltince. With him was the activist Slava Mihelič. Near the place where the monument stands today, they encountered an enemy garrison. They wanted to retreat, but retreat was impossible. Hungarian armed men severely wounded Jožef Čeh, and although they took him to the Sobosko hospital, he died there after three days. Slava was caught during the retreat and taken to Sobosko prisons.
The monument is designed as a grave with four stone pillars and a light on the flat slab. It was erected by the local organization ZZB NOV Beltinci, and was unveiled on 17th October 1964, on the town's festival of Murska Sobota.
