Danica Senica and unknown fighter, Podnart

According to the operational plan of the XXXI. Division staff, which included the Prešernova, Gradnikova and Vojkova brigades stationed at Jelovica, the destruction of the railway track and objects from Radovljica to Kranjska Gora was scheduled for the night of 17 June 1944. On the Podnart area, the Gradnikova brigade and part of the Vojkova brigade carried out the action. The railway station and its surroundings were fortified with bunkers. In the area, there was a weapons depot. Partisans launched a concentrated attack on the bunkers, while minerci mined the railway bridge over the Lipnica stream, destroyed tracks and rails, and cut electric and telephone lines. During the attacks on the bunkers, young partisan Danica Senica and an unknown fighter from the Gradnikova brigade fell. A memorial plaque, made by stonemason Alojz Vurnik, was erected near the site of their deaths by the Local Committee of ZB NOV Podnart in 1965.
