DOLNJI SUHOR - Memorial to the Establishment of the Initiative Committee of SPŽZ for Belo Krajino

At the meeting on 26th May 1943, which was chaired by Mica Šlander at Suhorje, the regional initiative committee of SPŽZ for the White Homeland was established. For the first secretary of this committee, Francka Šebar-Dolenc was appointed.

8th August 1943 – on the same day when there was also a large gathering of OF supporters from the northern part of the White Homeland at Suhorje – the first regional conference of SPŽZ (Slovenska protifašistična ženska zveza) for the White Homeland took place in the forest near the village. The speech dealt with assistance to the partisan army and the involvement of women in OF. At the time of the 2nd conference of SPŽZ for the White Homeland, on 14th December 1943, 124 SPŽZ committees and 36 delegates were active in the region. The Slovenian delegation, which had just arrived at Suhorje from the II. session of AVNOJ (Antifašističko veče narodnog oslobodjenja Jugoslavije – Antifašistični svet narodne osvoboditve Jugoslavije, op: D.D.), informed the participants of the historical conclusions adopted in Jajce.

A memorial plaque commemorating the development and share of SPŽZ for the White Homeland was unveiled at the post office on 8th March 1959.
