Carlo Nathan Morpurgo was the son of Giacomo Morpurgo and Giuseppine Gentilli.
He was born in Trieste on 24 August 1890. He was arrested on 20 January 1944 in Trieste
first detained in the Trieste prison, and then deported on 2 September 1944 to
the extermination camp Auschwitz. He arrived there five days later and the Nazi regime murdered him on 4 November 1944. The school is named after him.
