Borovnica, local cemetery - grave of Janez Demšar - Jernej

Janez Demšar - Jernej fell as a terenec and secretary of the regional committee of KP
Borovnica, on the 14th of December 1942, specifically in the immediate vicinity of the bunker in the hill Šumnik
above Borovnica.

On that day, after the homeowner from Borovnica, the white guards surrounded the hideout -
the bunker of the terencev in a heavily inaccessible area in Šumnik, where Janez
Demšar - Jernej, Tone Zalar - Žan and Viktor Kirn - Janušek were, all activists and
functionaries of the regional committee of KP Borovnica. Already after the first shots, Tone Zalar - Žan was mortally
wounded, Janez Demšar - Jernej was shot and killed in about 30 m
fall, while Viktor Kirn - Janušek surrendered, was interned, after the fall of Italy he joined the Cankarjeva brigade and as
a brigade commissioner was wounded and awaited liberation in 1945.
