Dušan Kveder, Ptuj

Monument to Dušan Kveder stood in the complex of the former military barracks in Vičava. It was made of concrete and stood on one of the cubes. The author of the statue is unknown, according to oral sources, it was made by some Yugoslav soldier from Arandjelovac during his military service before 1964.

Four stone pedestals, on the highest one stood the statue and below the inscription NARODNI HEROJ, on the other three, which decrease from the left to the right, there is a part of his name. After the year 2005, the statue was moved to the Regional Museum Ptuj-Ormož.

»With the traditional ceremony, they commemorated yesterday the 3rd anniversary of the unit Dušan Kveder Tomaž. They prepared this occasion very carefully: a group of soldiers prepared an idea project for the creation of the statue to the hero, after which the unit is named and which was unveiled yesterday. Those gathered at the monument, the soldiers pledged to faithfully follow the orders of Dušan Kveder.

Participants of yesterday's ceremony also visited the memorial room, which, on its 2nd anniversary this year, is richer in new content.

Overall, the day of the unit in the Ptuj military barracks was exceptionally solemn and work-related celebration. The best soldiers were awarded with recognition, medals and prizes.«
