Dragomlja Vas - Memorial to the Establishment of the Belokranjski Detachment

Borci Belokranjske partizanske skupine, formed in the first days of April 1942 in
the encampment on Mišin brdo above the village of Popoviči, camped in the
Kramaričev gozd on Županj vrh near Dragomlje village. After the arrival of new
volunteers from Metlika, Gradca and the area of Vinice, a new Belokranjska
partizanska četa was formed with commander Alojz Grčar-Mitjo and political
commissar Matija Bahorj- Oskar Slatin. The unit returned to the previous
encampment on Mišin brdo, where on 20 May, after uniting with 19 fighters
from the Gorjanski bataljon, it was reorganized into the Belokranjski bataljon
with two companies, which later in the middle of the year developed into the
Belokranjski odred. Near the Kramaričev gozd, about 300 meters west of the
village, a stone tablet was discovered on 13 May 1962 in a cave according to
the design of Jože Zamljen - Drejčet.
