Cerkno, Partizanske smučine

In January 2025, 80 years have passed since the legendary Partizanski smuči. On this occasion, the organizing committee established the commemorative Path of the Partizanski smuči and also carried it out with the help of the local Tourism Office.

We both had to "go through" it again during this year's visit to Jazz Cerkno.

I think that in some way or another, it falls among the partisan memorials. It goes like this:

A light circular path runs approximately along the route of the original patrol run, but it has been adapted to current conditions and shortened to 3.7 km. It starts at the central memorial of the NOB on Platiševa street. There is also the first explanatory board, which briefly in words and with a picture presents the path and the events it is dedicated to. Immediately after that, it turns left between the blocks and heads towards the village of Zakriž. Before ascending the slope of Gradišče, there is already the second board, which describes how the patrol run took place. Upon reaching the Makaton house, it turns north towards the village of Trebenče. When it winds out of the forest onto the meadow along the Lam(i)k slope, the third board reminds of the giant slalom part of the competition. The path then descends towards the Zapoška stream, where it turns back towards Cerkno. Passing by the popular strengthening place Pr' Padkejc, it returns to Platiševa street and proceeds along it to the starting point. The ski jumps, which attracted the most spectators, took place on Zavrteh east of Cerkno, where the giant slalom also ended. The board that reminds of the jumping competition stands below the fence of the local cooperative shop.
