Like some other Zasavian community units, the Zagorje KS unit Franc Farčnik also received its name from a devoted communist. Franc Farčnik (partisan name Kristuš) was born on August 30, 1899 in Prekopa. On Wikipedia and in Zasavski rokovnik by Roman Rozine, it can be read that he started working in the pre-mayorship in Zagorje in 1915 and soon became politically active and a trade unionist as well. In 1920, he joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. He worked as an organizer for SKOJ, the Yugoslav Association of Mining Workers, and worker cultural enlightenment societies Ledina, Svoboda, and Vesna. In 1925, he moved to France, after which he politically emigrated to the Soviet Union, where he stayed until 1936. The same year, as an instructor for KPJ, he returned to Zagorje. In 1937, he participated in the founding congress of the Communist Party of Slovenia at Čebeže. At the beginning of World War II, he worked underground and led a political school. In November 1941, he was captured by the Gestapo. He was held in Celje, Maribor, and on Grad Borl, where he died as a result of torture.
