Stele for the Victims of the NS Justice at the State Court Klagenfurt

At least 47 people were sentenced to death by the Klagenfurt Regional Court during National Socialism due to resistance activities. These individuals are attributable to different resistance groups: partisan resistance, green cadres, railway resistance, and communist resistance. After the liberation from National Socialism, the victims received little recognition; instead, they were widely slandered by a large part of the population as traitors to the fatherland. Since 2008, the Memorial Kärnten/Koroška association has annually commemorated the victims of NS unjust justice during a remembrance ceremony in Klagenfurt. Finally, in 2013, a memorial was erected before the Regional Court for these victims. On the 2.30 m high serpentinite stone, which centrally symbolizes an axe, the names of the 47 murdered individuals are inscribed. In the last line, further victims are referred to who are still unknown.
