DOLNJI SUHOR-Memorial Plate of the First Assembly of Slovene Lawyers

On the first meeting of Slovene lawyers on liberated territory on 10th and 11th October 1943 in Metlika and Suhoř, 120 lawyers participated, who had joined the national liberation struggle either as fighters or as collaborators. After the introductory speech by Dr. Maks Šnuderl, seven papers were read and a discussion followed. A special committee prepared a resolution, in which the lawyers emphasized their fundamental duty to engage with the national liberation struggle with all their abilities, which is just in a moral sense and justified by valid national law.

The Belokranjska technique reproduced a cyclostilled brochure Spomenica o prvem zboru slovenskih pravnikov in the year 1944.

The plaque on the post office building, where the meeting took place, was unveiled by the Society of Lawyers of the LR Slovenia (Ljudske republike) on 21st July 1954.
