A concrete cross is placed on a concrete pedestal. Dedicated to the murdered activist, sister of the national hero Janka Premrl-Vojka. The death of Božena Premrl — partisan teacher
After the Italian capitulation, Slovenian education in primary schools began on the Primorska and in Istria. Professional teachers and teacheresses were found who prepared regular school education. Because there was a severe shortage of teachers, mainly girls were recruited for this task as assistant teachers. In 1944, nearly 500 teachers were teaching in the Primorska and Istria, of which only about 20% were professional. During this teaching, occupier soldiers and their helpers, domobranci and chetniks, killed at least 20 people. Partisan assistant teachers also became Slavica and Božena Premrl from Podnanos, the Vojkovi sisters. Božena taught in her home village. On 30 April 1945, the chetniks dragged her to the stream below the village, where they brutally killed her. The same night, they permanently withdrew from the Vipavska valley. The memorial site is on the stream, northwest of Podnanos, about 500 meters from the village, at the place of Božena Premrl's death.
