Already in high school he engaged in sports, primarily athletics. The Germans expelled his family to Serbia, but he returned to Ljubljana and connected with OF. After the war, he performed various functions in the Municipal People's Council of Celje. From pre-war traditions of Celje's sports societies Olimp, Celje and Teharje, in 1949 he founded the society Kladivar, which became a concept of modern Yugoslav athletics in its best years.
