A group of four Hurricanes, which took off at 14.40 from Visa, was led by
the section commander, Lieutenant Stanislav Vouk. […] The report on this operation
reads: '[…]

The pilots showed great sacrifice and bravery, attacking the targets four times
under very intense and precise anti-aircraft fire. During the final attack, the
formation leader, Lieutenant Stane Vouk, was shot down.'211)

Pilot and fighter Stanislav Vouk was born on 29 September 1922 in Divača. He
began his career in the former Yugoslav Air Force in 1928. At the beginning of the
war, Lieutenant Vouk served at the air centre in Bled. He was in German
captivity from April to November 1941, then in Italian captivity until the
surrender of Italy, when he joined the NOVJ. With a group of thirteen aircraft, he
departed from Slovenia on 18 February 1944 across Ljubljana into Bosnia. By July
1944, he was serving at various airfields of the liberated territory. Towards the
end of July 1944, he came through Bari into Bologna, where he became the
commander of the Second Squadron, which made its first combat operation on
13 October 1944. By 20 October 1944, the squadron had carried out six combat
operations, and Vouk participated as leader in five of them, which ominously
shows how devoted he was and how heroic his spirit was. After his death, he was
promoted to the rank of sergeant and was awarded the Order of the Partisan Star
of the Second Degree.212)«

The memorial plaque was placed on 21 May 1983 by the flyers, across the border -
fighters of NOVJ and the Association of NOVJ Fighters of Divača.

The name Stanislav VOUK is also inscribed on the façade of the memorial in the park
of Divača.

The memorial plaque is placed on the façade of the current library. Previously, this
was the Home of Divača. It was built by the locals with voluntary / assault /
work and they were proud of it.

The NOB memorials and commemorative monuments are considered to have been
erected by the locals near the buildings they had built themselves. This was a
cultural and recreational centre where people gathered the most.

So stands the central memorial in the small park, opposite the Home of Divača
the clinic, the school..
