Military Cemetery of Commonwealth Personnel Padova, Herman Topnikar

On the military cemetery is buried Herman Toplikar next to the grave of the member of the aircrew of the sergeant S. Kovačović, with whom the victims were in the anti-aircraft battery (baterija 4/ Schwere Flakabteilung 311, on the way Zgornja Savio-Ravenna-Ostiglia-Modena-Bologna). The aircraft took off on 1st October 1944 from the airfield Cecina between 20.00 and 21.15 hours on a night armed reconnaissance flight over northern and eastern Italy as part of 55Sq with the aircraft Baltimor V FW351-P, which was heavily damaged and crashed near the town of Fiesso Umbertiano, northwest of Ferrara, and exploded at that time. At that time the victims were both gunners, the sergeant H. Toplikar and the squadron leader Stevan K. Kovačović.
