Črenšovci, Memorial Plaque to the Victims of Fascism

In April 1944, the so-called "Great Cleaning" took place, with which the Hungarian occupier strongly intervened also in Crensovci. On 10 May of the same year, in the early morning hours, many collaborators of Bojan Červič were arrested, as well as almost all members of the OF committee. First, Jožef Marko and Martin Kohek, who had already sought contact with the mountain partisans in the autumn of 1943, and Jožef Skledar were arrested. Skledar's wife Marija and Ivan Hozjan were also arrested.

All of them were taken to Soboski camps, interrogated and tortured. The same day, the Hungarian soldiers returned to the Skledar family. When Alojz Červič-Mihec and Dragica Vrbnjak-Nadalja (Bojan was then on the right side of the Mura) noticed them, they wanted to flee, but were recognized. In the fight, Mihec fell, while Nada was wounded and fled to the fields, where the soldiers caught her and took her to Soboski camps. Martin Kohek, Jožef Marko, Ivan Hozjan, Jožef Skledar and Dragica Vrbnjak-Nada were sentenced by a summary court in Čakovec on 22 June 1944 to long-term prison sentences (from 5 to 12 years). They were sent to the Dachau camp, where Kohek, Marko, Hozjan and Skledar died in March 1945. Anton Ploj, born in 1918, a medical student, was an activist of the OF, who directed the work and tried to revive the NOG activities in Prekmurje. During one of the crossings to Croatia, he was caught by the Ustashe in Varaždin and arrested, then sent to Zagreb. He was murdered in Jasenovac in 1944. Frane Godina, born in 1920 in Žižki, joined the NOV in 1944 and fought in the 1st company of the 1st battalion of the vojvodinska brigade 52nd division. He was wounded on 17 April 1945 during the attack on Našice. During transport to the hospital, he died near Jasenovac on 31 March 1945. Franc Škobrne, born in 1896 in Laško, an advanced farmer and a conscious Slovene, had already aligned with the NOG in 1941. On 3 November 1944, he was arrested and sent to internment, where he died in the Dachau camp on 31 March 1945.

The plaque was unveiled on 22 July 1957 by the municipal organization of ZZB NOV Beltinci.
