In the primary school Prade near Kopru, a memorial plaque is affixed to the wall in the courtyard in memory of the partisan Elvira Vatovec. The school is also named after her.
"Round the table we gathered together with the historians Milan Pahor from Trieste and Vlasto Beltram from Kopr in revealing a less well-known, yet extremely proud history of our coastal education, which grew out of the partisan resistance after the fall of fascist Italy. It refers to a uniqueness without precedent, when the nation, after four centuries of ethnocide, so to speak, rose from the ashes of burned Slovene homes, not only with a magnificent resistance, but also with the embracing of its culture, awareness and, of course, schools in their own, mother tongue."
