Črnuče - Franc Ravbar - Vitez

National Hero Franc Ravbar - The knight was born on August 4, 1914 in Vrhpolje near Repentabro on the Primorska coast. He lived in Črnuče and worked as a keymaker in the company Unitas in Šiška. In 1932 he was admitted to SKOJ, and the following year joined the KPJ. Politically, he worked in advanced trade unions and in the workers' cultural society Svoboda Črnuče, and later in Vzajemnosti Ježica. In 1937 he became a member of the regional committee of the KPS Ježica-Črnuče, and the following year a member of the district committee of the KPS Ljubljana and its surroundings.

In 1941 he participated in the preparations for an armed uprising, and afterwards became commander of the VOS in Ljubljana. In May 1942 the Italians interned him in the concentration camp Gonars, from where he escaped in August 1942. Until December 1942 he was with the partisans on the Primorska coast.

On January 14, 1943 he fell in battle with the Germans above Srednja vas in Poljanska dolina as commander of the VOS for Gorenjska.

A memorial plaque was erected on Ravbar's house, unveiled on June 24, 1954.
