Čara, cemetery of fallen mercenaries, Korčula, Croatia

According to the data in the book Prekomorci, oris zgodovine prekomorskih brigad, Ljubljana 1965, on page 85 it is written: "We comrades were buried together in a common grave at the cemetery of Čara. The choir sang a lament, and the political commissar said goodbye to his comrades. The whole village was present at the funeral. At that time we also learned that in the December 1943 action on Korčula, over a hundred comrades from the 1st Prekomorska Brigade fell, defending the island against the German invasion." The author of the entry is Albert Klun, who described the events of 17 July 1944 after the transfer of the 3rd Prekomorska Brigade from Mljet to Korčula, where they attacked the Germans.
