Dornava, stone under Titov's tree near OŠ

Among the festivities throughout the Ptuj community, we should mention the event held at the Dr. Franja Žgeča Primary School in Dornava, where students and teachers of the school, in honor of Youth Day, unveiled a stone at the memorial Titovo Tree. A speech was given on the exceptionally fruitful and rich life path of Titov and his ideas by the head of the local primary school, Franc Predikaka. Then, the teacher Irena Pravdič unveiled the memorial stone at the platane, which were planted in memory of comrade Tit. On the stone, only two words are written: TITOVO DREVO. And these two words mean a lot, a lot..«

       88 Trees for Tit

»In Dornava, an action called »88 Trees for Comrade Tit« was concluded in the middle of the previous week. The action was initiated already by the brigadiers, according to the decision of the central MDA Slovenske Gorice assembly. Before the house of the brigadiers and military education, young people from TOZD, the municipal services of the Ptuj municipal enterprise, and young people from Dornava planted 88 young trees in the shape of a living border, thus also improving the environment of the former old primary school. The implementation of this task was also helped by the municipal community of Ptuj. At the conclusion of the action, the president of the central MDA Slovenske Gorice assembly, Savo Kozjak, emphasized its broader significance at the ceremony before the house of the brigadiers and military education. Representatives of the local community and socio-political organizations of Dornava, Konrad Vertič and Alojz Valenko, on behalf of the young and older residents, pledged that they would carefully maintain this memorial to comrade Tit.« (JOS, 88 Titovih dreves v Dornavi, Tednik
