In Destrnik, where the pre-war headquarters of the Youth Association of Peasants and Girls was located, the OF sympathizers were already active in 1941. On the building of the enlightenment house in the centre of the village, a memorial plaque was erected for the fallen fighters, partisans and those who died in the camp. From Destrnik and the surrounding area, twenty-two people gave their lives for freedom. Source: Milan Ževart, Po sledovih NOB, p.34.
The basic school in Destrnik was named Osnovna šola Bratje Reš Destrnik from 1962 to 1991, in memory of the fallen members of the Reš family. This is mentioned on the plaque on the school's façade, installed in 1968.
