Spanish fighter and NOV Ivan Radoš-Djuro

He was born in 1900 in Radoše near Radovica. As an Austro-Hungarian soldier, he survived the Slovenian army's defeat at Judenburg in May 1918. After the Armistice, he served on the Italian front and later was mobilized into the Yugoslav army, participating in battles for Carinthia until December 1919. In December 1920, he went to France, studied surveying, and became a member of the Communist Party in 1931. In autumn 1936, he was among the first volunteers to offer aid to the Spanish Republic. After the dissolution of international brigades, he joined a French camp; after Germany's occupation of France, he was taken to work in Germany but managed to return home at the beginning of January 1942.

Immediately joining the national liberation movement, by mid-1942 he became a member of the White Carniola Battalion. He also served as an intelligence officer from 1944 until the end of the war in the Croatian IV Corps.

He died in 1971. He was awarded the "Partisan Commemorative Medal 1941." Memorial plaques at his home were unveiled by social-political organizations of KS Radovice on August 7, 1982.
