Belčji vrh

Monument to the victims of the NOB. On it is also the name of Miha(ela) Goršet from Sela pri Dragatušu, who was shot by the police during demonstrations against the fraudulent elections of 1935; in his home village, they erected a monument (tombstone?).

Among the NOB, the most partisan villages were Belčji Vrh, Zapudje and Tanča Gora. The Italians burned Zapudje on 19th August 1942 and killed 8 villagers, while others were sent to internment. On 22nd November, the Kordun Brigade with the Belokranjski detachment achieved a victory at Tanča Gora. On 4th October 1942, the Italians established a white guard post in Dragatuš. On 5th May 1944, the Germans destroyed 15 homes in Dragatuš (this day was chosen as the municipal holiday after the war); only one villager died. In the Dragatuš municipality, there were indeed 58 (or according to other data 80) victims. On the 10th anniversary of the liberation, in May 1955, according to the plan of architect Boris Kobet, a monument to all the victims in Dragatuš was erected, 8 killed in Zapudje and in Belčji Vrh.
