Črčejev križ, Blato

A stone monument stands in the middle of the field, by the path, a tall, slightly sloped pyramid-shaped roof, covered with tiles. In 1952, it was erected by Mirko Kumer, p. d. Črčej.

All motifs in the niches are connected with the harsh events of the Second World War. Above the niches are the years, which are connected with the representations within them.

Originally, it was painted by F. Jerina, and Jožef Stefan renewed the painting in 1997.

The monument was erected by Mirko Kumer, p. d. Črčej, in gratitude, as his family was commemorated for the fate of the displaced, and in gratitude for the happy return from Russian captivity.

On the order of the Reich commissioner Heinrich Himmler, on April 14, 1942, about 1,000 Carinthian Slovenes were suddenly expelled from their homes and deported to camps in Germany.

The design of the cross was drawn by engineer Günther Glavar after the image of the cross in Dolah near Vrbsko lake, which was provided by the regional memorial office in Celovec. The cross was built by France Nachbar p. d. Jopov father in Čirkovče, the roof was made by the carpenter Šefer from Ponikve and covered with tiles. The cross has the shape of a covered chalice with four indentations. In them are images, frescoes, which represent on the east side »God the Father and the Holy Cross« – the rek, which were used during the blessing on the field and also on the battlefield during the enemy attack..

The end of the cross is connected to a wooden crossbar, on which is attached an aluminum cross, which was freely made by the carpenter master Schipek from Pliberk.
