Memorial stele in Delnice is dedicated to the fallen couriers of the G-5 station and the villagers of Delnice, who enabled the operation of this exceptionally important station. The memorial in the middle of the village was unveiled in September 1956.

The G-5 courier station of the first relay line operated in the area of Gabrška Gora and Delnice between 1942 and 1945. Couriers connected the stations from Bukovec Hill in Poljanska Dolina to Studenska Graha in Selška Dolina. The area was extremely dangerous, and the station lost a third of its members.

The villagers of Delnice supported the entire uprising from the very beginning, together with the Partisans and the People's Liberation Front, which is why the enemies nicknamed them «Little Moscow». During the war, every sixth inhabitant of Delnice gave their life for freedom.

The courier command of PK ZKS for Gorenjska set up the first Gorenjska relay line: Dolomiti-Butajnova-Kolobocija-Polkjanska Dolina-Gaberška Gora-Krivo Brdo-Martinj Vrh-Podlonk-Jelovica. However, the first TV stations on Gorenjska were already in July 1942, namely G 5 in Gabrška Gora above the village of Delnice-Poljanska Dolina. At the same time, G 7 was also established on Bačni Hill in the village of Todraž, G 3 in Martinj Vrh, and G 1 in Podlonk near Železnikuh. In memory of these stations, the couriers, who survived, unveiled the memorial in the village of Delnice last year (1956-op. D.D.). The reason why the G 5 station was here all the time during the war and all the people were here cooperating with the Partisans. These stations the Germans never discovered, although they were only a few meters above the village and all the villagers knew about them. This is the first memorial dedicated to couriers, in Slovenia; perhaps even in the Yugoslav People's Army.        Source:  Borec
