"Alojz Hrovat, a distinguished trade union organizer and pre-war communist, known especially among carpenters and masons. He initially rose up as a member of the wartime-revolutionary committee for the Jesenjsko region, then became a fierce fighter and commander of Kokrška Detachment. With his comrades, he was in the cave at Okrogle on April 22, 1942, where he rather committed suicide by shooting himself, as he preferred not to surrender to the occupier [..]. The Germans again invited them to surrender, but their response was a stronger pledge of allegiance and defiant calls. The partisans destroyed the weapons and equipment in the last minutes and shot the ammunition. Only they were left; with them, six shots were fired. Around the fallen Pagon and Smuž, Stan Janez Žagar, Jaka Rabič, Ivan Županec, Lojze Hrovat, Stane Pavlin, and Ivan Stroj stood guard."
