Corropoli in the province
of Teramo is
one of
numerous internment
camps, which
were established by the fascist government after Italy's entry
into the second
world
war for the internment of foreigners and anti-fascists. It operated from January 1941 to
May 1944 with
a maximum capacity of approximately 150 people. It interned Slavic
irredentists and Italian communists, and after September 8, 1943, it also served
as a concentration
camp for
Jews.
