During the occupation, the Italian occupier, besides the hospital in Kočevje, organized a military hospital in the fisherman's castle. After the Italian capitulation, the important task was to take over and preserve the undamaged military hospital, which was the merit of the well-known fisherman doctor, Dr. Janez Oražem, who personally took over the hospital before the capitulation on 8 September 1943, taking over the hospital with the full stock. With this, he laid the foundation for the organization of the partisan ambulance, which was called the divisional partisan hospital and later renamed SVPB-R. In the temporary administration were: Dr. Janez Oražem – administrator, Dr. Franja Bojc – assistant administrator and therapist, and Jure Baumgartner – dentist and economist, Pavla Lavrič – head chef, Mimi Oražem – assistant. Later, Ivo Serajnik-Šimen was appointed as political commissar. The lower and middle medical staff were recruited themselves among the female students and students and students from the fisherman's valley. At the beginning of the work, the hospital had 10 nursing sisters, 3 attendants (Katja Ančik, Tončka Arko, Pavla Bojc, Marija and Nika Češarek, Dušan Češarek, Marjan Gril – brivec, Tonček Kobentar, Marta Nosan, Eda Pirkovič, Jelka Pokovec, Marta Rančigaj and Vanda Škodnik) and 2 physicians (Marjan Pakiž and Jože Satler), who took care of up to 80 wounded and typhus patients. Later, altogether 5 physicians were included.

Before the German offensive in October 1943, the hospital withdrew to Bukovica and split into two parts. One part with lighter wounded and partially mobile patients, along with two clinics (Dr. Franja Bojc and Dr. Pavla Jerin), went through Dan, Kota and New Štifte towards Travni Mountain, where the Germans later captured them. The other part, with the seriously wounded, under the leadership of political commissar Ivo Serajnik-Šimen, went to Gotenica and then further to Goteniški Snežnik under the shelters, since the hospital in Gotenica was issued.

The reception ambulance of the divisional hospital from Ribnica ceased to exist on 4 November 1943, when the Germans, with the help of locals, shot the last two wounded, Bruno and Jožeta, the economist Ing. Janez Bojc, the physician Marjan Pakiž, and the student Borisa Rančigaja, upon capturing the group from the fisherman's hospital on Veliki Mountain.
