Anton Rogina - Jager

In the village of Podgorje, near the farmer Vinka Lenarta's (p.d. at Močivnik) house, there stands a granite stone where Anton Rogina-Jager fell on April 13, 1945. He was a member of the district committee of the OF Dravograd. He worked in the intelligence centre, which was for some time located in the bunker at Močivnik's home. The memorial was erected by his son Anton, with his wife and other relatives. The funeral with military honors was held immediately after the war at the cemetery of Podgorje. The bunker of the intelligence centre E/E-1 - Jagrov bunker. Anton Rogina-Jager, who had escaped from the German police on August 8, 1944, just before his arrest, built the bunker in a deep ravine, 15 minutes from his home. The bunker was above ground. Rogina was the head of the intelligence centre of the 4th Operational Zone, which the Germans killed upon discovering the bunker. His collaborators were: Fišer Jože-Boris, Krajger Ivan, Marčič Ivan-Milan, Handler Franc-Smola, Ornik Janko.Krjavelj, Sever Alojz-Prlek, Sušec Adolf-Dušan and Krivec Urška-Vanda. Very successfully did the farmer's officer E/E-1, farmer Peter Vrčkovnik p.d. Novak, and Umek from Suhega dola, who was also among the partisans, cooperate with Rogina. Tone Rogina, reserve lieutenant of the former Yugoslav army and later famous partisan, head of the intelligence centre EE/1, gathered a considerable amount of weapons and ammunition in Podgorje upon the disbandment of the former army, which he concealed in the centre of his own mill. This weaponry was later handed over to the first commanders of the NOB and was taken to the house on Kremžarjev vrh in June and July 1941 by the secretary of the cell France and Tine Lah.
