Two plaques: the deceased pupils and the establishment of the communist organization

The name of the writer Pavle Zidar is connected with the event described on the first plaque. He
as a thirteen-year-old activist planted an explosive. It was intended for German
gunners who lived in the school, but the explosion accidentally occurred during
class. The Germans imprisoned
him in Begunje, from
where the partisans of the Kokrška unit freed him in April 1945, after which he went
with them into the partisans. The event left a strong mark on him, as he often included
it in his works (e.g. Occupation of Javornik, 1984). The number of victims of the explosion was
seven or eight (girls and a German teacher), while twelve were injured.
