Church of Saint Fabian and Saint Sebastian on Polanija

On February 25, 1944, the 14th division, after a long march through frost and snow across Bohorje, spent the night in the settlement of Polana, village of Radež, and the village of Okroglice.

The division's photographer Jože Petek took a notable photograph of this march upon arrival in the settlement of Polana, in snow and mist under the church.

For a long period of time, it was unknown where this photograph was taken.

The illustrated journalist of the ITD newspaper Janez Kajzer and Joco Žnidaršič, however, discovered this location in 1977, and the marchers who set out from Loke pri Zidanem Mostu towards the well-known Lovrencu (encijan, opojna zlatica), often position themselves in this pose of the former partisan fighters.

Mojca Luštrek notes the date of the photograph's creation as February 12, 1944. On February 25, the XIV division was already at the end of its march to Styria.
