Bašelj, Mala gora, Memorial to the First Battle of Tigrovce

In the small mountain above Ribnica, in the area that the locals call Bašelj, which is the lowest point for crossing from Struška Valley to Ribnica, a battle took place on 13 May 1941. Members of the organization TIGR - Anton Majnik, Danilo Zelen and Ferdo Kravanja, all from the Slovenian Primorje, had taken refuge in a wooden cabin in Lovšinov. In the morning, a combined patrol of former Yugoslav partisans and Italian carabinieri from Ribnica arrived at the barack. A armed confrontation took place, in which Danilo Zelen, the military leader of the organization TIGR, fell, Ferdo Kravanja was wounded and captured, and Anton Majnik was captured, but managed to escape.

The wooden cabin in Lovšinov was destroyed and burned in the battle and was never restored.

In memory of this first battle, the organization ZB NOB Ribnica erected a memorial plaque, which was made by France Ambrožič, a hunter in the prototype workshop on Inles and in his free time an enthusiastic hunter. The unveiling of the plaque took place on 29 September 1985, and its guardianship was taken over by the Ribnica Hunting Society, which still takes care of it today. Previously, the plaque was restored, for which the members of the families Oražem and Pogačnik from Brega were responsible.
