Description: Bronze half-length statue of partisan and political worker Polde Maček-Boruta
(1901-1977) on a high square stone base with a metallic inscription was erected
in 1978.

The statue stands on the green space in front of Primary School Novo Polje - Zadobrova, Zadobrovška
Street 35.

Polde Maček, Slovenian partisan and political worker, was born * November 19, 1901
Spodnja Zadobrova, † April 8, 1977, Ljubljana.

Maček, a trained craftsman, worked as a tradesman between the two world wars. In
1932 he became a member of the KPJ and was active in the rural-worker movement in
the 1930s. He organized several protest meetings and strikes. In 1937 he was the
editor of the people's front newspaper of the Peasants' Union. Maček was a mediator
in 1937 and 1938 regarding the departure of Slovenian volunteers to the Spanish
republican army. In 1941 he helped establish the national protection in Ljubljana
in May 1942 he joined the partisans, where he was among other things political
commissar of the 3rd group of detachments and secretary of the Grosuplje and
Novo Mesto district. After liberation, he performed various party functions in
Ljubljana.
