Bolnica Podob pod Snežnikom

Bolnišnica Podob operated from late May 1941 until the end of the war on Jermanovac
near the coordinates 1151. It was established in a smaller valley with four barracks in
a very densely wooded forest at an elevation of 1100 m. The path from the forest trail to the hospital
was very steep and approximately 300 meters long. In the four barracks there was space for
40 seriously ill patients. The fourth barrack was intended solely for operations. They had
great difficulties with supply of water, food and fuel, but successfully resolved these problems
with extraordinary partisan ingenuity and improvisation. The first leader
of this hospital was Dr. Jurij Saje. Later followed Dr. Vaclav Pišot
then Dr. Ivan Pintarič and at the end of the war also Vinko Stančič.
