Debeče - Memorial to the Courier Post TV 3

The memorial is in the shape of a square column, the front side is made of
rifle fire. The author of the architectural sketch of the memorial is Alojz Škrajnar
it was made by the sculptor and writer Tone Svetina. The memorial was erected by
the subcommittee of partisan couriers for the Dolenjsko-Belokranjsko area 4th
brigade of the state security forces at the municipal committee of ZZB NOV Grosuplje
it was unveiled on 21 May 1977.

The courier post TV 3 was established immediately after the Roški offensive in
autumn 1942 by Rojc Lojze-Miha T. at Pristava near Stična. The special feature
of this courier post was that couriers had to regularly cross the German-Italian
occupation border. The border was an occupation territory, secured with barbed
wire, minefield and soldiers. They maintained a constant link between the leading
bodies of the national liberation struggle of Slovenia with the leadership in
Styria and Upper Carniola, through the border, partisan units and activists of
OF and also numerous soldiers from Upper Carniola and Styria were sent to
partisans on Dolenjsko. Near the courier post TV 3 at Pristava was the
belogardistična postojanka Stična, which presented a great danger for couriers.
Belogardists were constantly following them, so the courier post had to move
frequently: first to the forest, then to the immediate vicinity of the border in
Kacne and finally to a small forest near Debečem, about 100 meters from the
border, where it remained during the winter of 1942/1943. For the winter they
built a dugout, in which they made shelters, and protected themselves with three
mine layers in front of it. Couriers left the dugout early in spring, afterwards
they lived freely in various places. Due to the increasing danger, couriers
decided to move to the German side of the border. They also moved from place to
place (they were at Tujem grm, on Vnajnarji, near Gabrje, Dolgem brdo and on
Jančah, near Jevnice and also in many other places), the post was only a day or
two at one place. Upon the capitulation of Italy, TV 3 moved to Ivančna Gora
after the sudden German offensive, it, like other courier posts on Dolenjsko
moved again to a less populated area. TV 3 operated from the Roški 1942 offensive
until the liberation. Towards the end of the war, conditions became worse and
courier work became increasingly difficult due to intensified German patrols and
due to the rise of home guard on Dolenjsko.
