DESCRIPTION OF THE MEMORIAL:
Marked by rough-hewn stone, in which a plate made of white Istrian stone is embedded (the height of the entire monument is 163 cm, the size of the vertical plate is 78*57 cm). The inscription is relief-carved.
DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Ignac Florjančič, born on 31 July 1906 in Visok, was severely wounded in the arm in a clash with a home guard patrol near Vaškarje on 9 January 1945. He was taken to the nearby village, from where the enemy brought him to the courtyard, first forcing him, and then immediately shooting him with a submachine gun. He was buried by the locals on the hill above the present-day resort house.
At the natural bunker Vogradnik above Gradišče, a German patrol surprised Alojz Križaj from Nakle and Jakob Javornik, born on 13 July 1903, from Trstenik. During the clash, Javornik was mortally wounded. Križaj, however, was severely wounded in the abdomen, but still had enough strength to crawl to the nearby partisan hospital "Košuta", where he soon afterwards died. Javornik and Križaj were also buried by the locals on the hill above the former resort houses "Gamsov raj".
All three were later exhumed and moved to their home cemeteries.
