Reš, Vintarovci

At the site of the 1942 burning of Reševe's homes, an inscription was erected in 1968 in honor of the vigilant Reš family, six members of which died in the NOB (National Liberation Front). The inscription is on a monolithic base with wavy cut stones above it.

Ernest Reš had been a communist before the war. At the beginning of the occupation, the entire family joined the OF (Free Slovene Organizations). Vinko, Mirko, and Kostja's sons were soldiers in the Slovenia Corps. Vinko was the commander of that corps. All three sons fell, while their parents died in a concentration camp. A memorial to revolutionary families stands where once stood their home; its unveiling was in 1968.

A memorial for six fallen members of the Reš family has been standing on Mount Ojstrovec since 1967, though it is no longer preserved.

The memorial was unveiled on August 8, 1967. It was made according to Janez Rebernak's plans by stonecutter Mrevlje from Ptuj. Six white limestone panels represent the six fallen members of the Reš family. In 1983, due to construction, it was moved a few meters. In 2000, the memorial was removed but reinstated the same year under public pressure. The land was later sold to a private owner, and the memorial was lost. Following a new municipal decision in 2012, it is no longer designated as a local landmark.

It stands at Vintarovci 43c and is made of marble. Erected in 1973 or 1974 as a tribute to the site where once stood the Reš family home. It was installed by the Maribor Memorial Protection Institute. It was renovated in 1992 when it was also moved to its current location by the Pukšič family. Previously, it was located in the center of the courtyard; now, at the edge.

Note: Upon reviewing and comparing photographs taken upon unveiling (photos 2 and 3), it is clear that damage was caused due to later relocation and reinstallation of the memorial. The newer photo (photo 1) shows the offsetting of the six carved panels and confirms the unauthorized actions by participants during the reinstallation.

At its 13th ordinary session on May 10, 2012, the Municipal Council of Desternik passed a Resolution to designate immovable cultural memorials of local significance within the territory of the Municipality of Desternik. This resolution was published in the Official Bulletin of the Municipality of Desternik on May 17, 2012, volume XVII, no. 6. The Reš family memorial is not listed.

A newer memorial with seven carved panels commemorates all military victims at the cemetery site.
