Črnomelj, Memorial to the Work of the Editors of the Central Newspapers of the Slovene National Committee of the NSB /no_think

During the Second World War, in the area of the White Lands, numerous institutions, seeds of organs and organizations of the new state of Slovenia were founded, most of which continue their work today. Thus, on October 22, 1944, the Slovenian Journalists' Association was also established in Črnomlje. The monument to this event is on the façade of the castle on Trg svobode in Črnomlje. In Črnomlje, in the years 1944/45, the editorial office of the central newspapers of the national liberation struggle (Ljudska pravica, Slovenski poročevalec, Delavska enotnost, Novice idr.) also operated, so in memory of this activity, the Slovenian Journalists' Association installed a bronze commemorative plaque on the façade of the building at Pod smreko 1 in Črnomlje on October 20, 1984. This plaque was stolen on December 12, 2011, and to date, no one has found the plaque. Most of the population of the White Lands has a positive relationship with such historical heritage and does not forget it, does not neglect it, even takes care of it and are proud of it.

By agreement with the Slovenian ZVKD, the municipality of Čromelj and the owners of the residential house at Pod smreko 1 in Črnomlje, the ZB for the values of the NOB Črnomelj decided to replace the stolen commemorative plaque and cover the costs from membership contributions. The design of the plaque was made by architect Jurij Jaklič, and the marble plaque was made by Plut Kamnoseštvu, and on December 8, 2021, they also installed it back in its original place.
