Franc Knez, Zg. Kotnik

Franc Knez is commemorated on a family gravestone in Zgornjem Razborju. Someone added a clarification to the inscription, explaining that he was shot by German police officers when he fell into a patrol during the delivery of mail from Styria to Carinthia. A more precise account is provided by his son Stanislav Gradišnik, who said that he was shot on the way home because he could not hear the German "Halt!" due to the noise of the vehicle and the clattering of the horse's shoes.

On 10. 6. 2025, 95-year-old Feliks Knez from Zg. Razborja near Slovenj Gradec spoke in PRIČEVALCIH (TV Lj. 1). He recounted that he and his father had gone to the hospital in Črna na Koroškem, where his mother, or rather the wife of Franc Knez, was being treated. On the way, they were stopped by a German patrol, but they did not hear the words "halt" because of the noise of the vehicle and the clattering of the horse's shoes. A German machine gunner fired, and the father, Franc, succumbed to his injuries.
