Franc Kavalar joined the liberation movement on Jesenicah as a member of the youth organization already in 1941.
During an operation on Hrušica, he was arrested and interrogated. During the interrogation, he managed to convince the Gestapo men of his innocence and was released. In December 1942, he was conscripted into the German army. With leave at the end of 1943, he deserted and joined the partisans. He fought in the Vojkovi Brigade, and later became the commander of a "guard" unit in the staff of the XXXI. Division.
Franc Kavalar fell on April 4, 1945, on Cerkljan Hill.
On June 23, 1986, a memorial plaque was unveiled at the house where he fell.
