Andrej Novinšek, born on 15th November 1903 in Laz pri Velenju, fell on 23rd April 1945 in Bevčah pri Velenju, as a partisan fighter in the struggle against German occupying units. The Nazis took the dead body to the Velenje fairground, humiliated him and displayed him in the public square to all who dared to resist the occupier.
