Bolnica Drevenik, Boč

Reconstructed barrack of the partisan hospital IV. operational zone, which operated at this location in the years 1944 - 1945. Reconstruction carried out in 1999.

At the end of 1944, in the autumn, a partisan hospital was established on Formila/Boč, under the partisan name or code 0V-3B. Along with smaller local partisan units, units of the Kozjanski detachment and XIV. division also operated in this area. Boč was the main link between Kozjanski and Pohorje. In the hospital, several dozen fighters were treated. It was under the safe protection of the karstic poniklina. In the barrack, there were beds arranged in two rows and the roof was protected by earth, moss, branches, leaves .. Despite frequent German raids in the immediate vicinity, it successfully operated until the surrender in March 1945. The wounded were timely transferred to a reserve location above the Makolas. The cave with the karstic poniklina is still visible as a memory, with a memorial plaque mounted in the wall above it, while the barrack, which was restored in 1993 in poor condition due to vandalism. It is still well hidden today, although it is directly on the forest road.

Koča is being restored and will be handed over for viewing during the ceremony prepared by ZB NOB Šmartno pri Jelšah.
