Memorial Plate for the Interned Hungarian-Jewish Forced Laborers

1994-12-31 – 1995-12-30

On September 7, 1995, a memorial plaque was attached to the façade of the building at Hackengasse 11, commemorating Hungarian-Jewish forced laborers who were interned in this house. The plaque was donated by the Museum Verein Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus and designed by Horst Stöckel. The plaque was created on initiative of the Documentation Archive of the Austrian Resistance and the Institute for the History of Jews in Austria. With the demolition of the house in 2006, the memorial plaque also disappeared. Finally, on September 4, 2015, a newly designed plaque with identical text was attached and ceremoniously unveiled at the new building.
