Stelae for the Victims of War and Fascism in the Hermagoras-House

The so-called "Hermagorashaus" in Klagenfurt is of great significance for the Slovene community in Carinthia. The 1851 founded "Verein des Hl. Hermagoras" aimed at supplying the Slovene-speaking population with books. To this day, the Hermagoras/Mohorjeva Book Publishing House and the similarly named bookshop are located in the building. In the entrance area, on the right, three bronze stelae, created by Valentin Oman, were unveiled on May 7th, 1995, on the 50th anniversary of the liberation from National Socialism, dedicated to the victims of war and fascism. The letters depicted on them form neither words nor names. They are meant to be individually formed into names, thus excluding no one from memory.
